Celeb Style: Rihanna

When we need a wardrobe pick-me-up, nothing quite does it like street style pics of our favorite celebs. But what's a fashionista to do to achieve these looks--on a budget? It was this question that spurred us to create our Celeb Style series, where we source pieces to match those worn by the style stars you love. Look for these sales twice every month, and you'll find the covetable looks you've spotted on fashion's elite--at the super-privileged ideeli prices you know and love.

From her first days on the scene with "Pon de Replay" (still a total jam, by the way) to her killer dance moves to her ties to kings of hip-hop Drake, Eminem, and Kanye West, it's no wonder that Rihanna is the girl all of us kind of want to be. We dance to her songs while we're getting ready, we're obsessed with her street style that doesn't differ so much from her on-stage looks, and we even covet the way she makes fiery red hair look totally do-able! In this week's Celeb Style sale, we're featuring an ensemble that, to the naked eye, might seem simple, but Rihanna proves the devil is in the details. And we always say, it takes a true fashionista to make even the most basic outfit look killer chic. A classic pea coat is punched up with a vibrant scarf. Her jeans are waxed denim, the tee, heathered grey instead of standard white, and the boots, covered in buckles and straps give an edgy, downtown vibe. Throw a bold bag and blinging hoops in the mix, and RiRi's look is effortlessly undone.

Looking through the Barbadian beauty's street style pics we found ourselves ultra-inspired to vamp up our daily wardrobe. If you're as obsessed with RiRi as we are, join us tomorrow for our weekly ideelTALK style chat, where we dissect the best ways to integrate her avant-garde extras into your day-to-day uniform.

Join the conversation on Twitter (twitter.com/ideeli) using the hashtag #ideelTALK at 3pm EST tomorrow 12/20 and we'll dissect our fave Rihanna moments from music videos, the red carpet, and as she turns the streets into her own personal catwalk.

Added bonus: Three lucky #ideelTALK tweeters will be granted First Row access, and thus an early, exclusive look at our daily sales starting tomorrow. Let the tweeting begin!

Pretty On The Pavement, Alli

Well, actually it is pretty in the ideeli offices. Alli is one of our Assistant Buyers and everyday she struts the ideeli runway for us. This weekend we plan on stealing items from her closet. Have a style shot you want to share? Please forward to: blog@ideeli.com. If we decide to use your image, we will also interview you for the ideeli blog.

Gritty VS Pretty On The Pavement

The chilly rainy weather did not stop us from pounding the pavement yesterday searching for style candidates for the blog. Meet Brian above. A dapper gent in his Coco Chanel tee shirt, striped pants, and top hat.  Below is Olga. With that angelic face, does it matter what she wears? Tell us what you think of their style in the comment section below.

Pretty On The Pavement: Gigi is BACK

It has been a long time since we photographed our favorite intern turned merch assisant Gigi so today we dragged her onto the street. Below is a G- Chat we had with Ms G where she describes her look:

  • Blog:  How would you describe your look?
  • Gigi: hmmmm good question
  • Blog: How would you describe your pants?
  • Gigi: It's definitely structural lol
  • Blog: True.. how do you feel in that jacket?
  • Gigi:  I feel pretty bold in the jacket
  • Blog: Like butt kicking Pat Benatar bold. Sum up your look in a few quick words
  • Gigi:  Well let's see... It's an updated 80s inspired fall look.  I don't normally wear pink, but I think the coral shade suits the fall season and my usually flushed cheeks.
  • Blog: Well put! Thanks!

    Pretty On The Pavement, Carla

Carla reminds us of a John Hughes movie in a good 1980's way. The only details missing are black rubber bracelets and maybe bigger hair. She looks "radical".
