Obsessed With Selfridges

I am obsessed with Selfridges.  They put the "!" in "Luxury!".

For our lucky readers who live across the pond, you can catch the Louis Vuitton Speedy Exhibition going on in celebration of Selfridges 100th birthday.

The Speedy Concept Store will feature an insight into the history of the Speedy and the Louis Vuitton brand. Specialist techniques such as hot stamping and monograms will also be available to customers, who can personalize their purchases. Limited edition bags just for this event will also be on sale along with an exhibition of Louie classics including the Takashi Murakami Cherry print bag and the original Stephen Sprouse Speedy from 2001. Event closes on June 25th.

If you are in the 'hood on the 10th, make sure you pop in to meet Tom Ford.

Stephen Sprouse

I have ONE fashion regret in life. While Deborah Harry guarded her Stephen Sprouse collection "with her life", I actually donated my 1988 couture Sprouse pieces to the Metropolitan Museum. I acquired these items when I was rollicking teenager in the late 1980's. I worked for the punk glamour god at his short-lived shop at 99 Wooster Street. The items were gifts from the designer. While I still have a few precious gems like the poster above, I long for my leopard day glo coat. Only three were made, Iggy Pop owning the second and Patricia Field's the third. C’est la vie. At least now I can get a heaping dose of Sprouse thanks to Rizzoli, Deitch Projects, and Louis Vuitton.

For details about Rock on Mars, a retrospective of Sprouse’s work at Deitch Projects, the limited Stephen Sprouse / Marc Jacobs line at Louis Vuitton, and The Stephen Sprouse Book, go to WE LOVE STEPHEN SPROUSE.
