ideelSTYLE: NeoNeutrals

We're not neutral about everything. Chocolate as a midnight snack? For. Wearing Friday night heels on a Tuesday? For. Standing in line for pretty much anything? Against.

But when it comes to our spring wardrobes, neutral is our favorite way to be.

Today's ideelSTYLE Neo-Neutrals sale offers a bouquet of this season's barely-there palette, on everything from tailored blazers to pleated skirts. Alone, they provide a crisp, clean palette that can be either playful or sophisticated. But paired with bright punches of color, these unassuming neutrals become the backdrop for high voltage style.

Yellow is one of the must-have colors of the moment and we're loving the way it stands out when color-blocked with black and dusty peach in this W118 BY WALTER BAKER Mandee Dress. The drop waist is universally flattering, and in a lithe, breezy fabric, you'll be floating through this year's warm-weather concerts and street fests.

There's something so devastatingly chic about a pair of wide-legged trousers topped off with a skinny, bright belt. The little zest of yellow gives the '70s silhouette a modern touch, though it could easily be orange, pink or green instead. Tuck in a little tank and let the pants speak volumes, or toss on a slouchy sweater for a relaxed, weekend vibe.

Whether you prefer a vibrant splash of color or a subtle spark, you're sure to find it in today's ideelSTYLE sale. Just don't be surprised when spring's Neo-Neutrals make you glow--these perky pieces will brighten your mood AND your wardrobe!

Step Into Spring

In an exclusive feature for ideeli, Hanna Kim and Jenna Fain from The Supermelon share their shoe picks for spring 2009. Their favorite trends for spring include: glam gladiators, edgy booties, fierce platform sandals, rainbow bright colors, funky fringe, and comfy yet super stylish ballet flats.

Gladiators
are such a fun trend; they make us feel like a goddess and they come in so many different heights and styles. Booties transition seamlessly from winter to spring. While we may have worn booties with tights for cold winter days, it’s time to show off the legs during spring with booties and a mini skirt. They also look equally fresh with skinny jeans. Platforms are a great way to add height without sacrificing comfort; they’re perfect for day and night. Spring is a great time to have fun with bright colors, and what better way than with bold statement shoes. Shoes with fringe continue to be trendy, and we prefer subtle fringes—the “less is more” concept is something to keep in mind when considering fringes. Ballet flats are classic shoes that you can wear year-round; electric color adds a flirty, fun vibe to classic flats.

For fashionistas on a budget, find shoes that combine trends (i.e., brightly colored ballet flats or gladiators). If you choose to wear shoes that are a statement piece, keep the rest of your look simple. Stick to what looks good on you and makes you feel confident. Most importantly, have fun! After all, it’s only fashion.
