Happy Birthday Chanel No. 5

No, it is not just Cinco de Mayo today. May 5th is also the day Coco Chanel introduced Chanel No. 5 to her friends in 1921. 

To celebrate the day, Chanel released a short film (okay an awesome commercial) celebrating the allure of their classic perfume. The clip can now be previewed on the Chanel site.  For Francophiles who can not speak French, no worries, subtitles are included. The clip stars the adorable Audrey Tautou and is directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

The Chanel Car, The Fiore

The New York Car Show is in full force and it leaves me wanting to trade up my no -nonsense Ford Fusion for something tres chic like the new Chanel Car.

Yes, you "read" me correctly, but currently the vehicle designed by Jin Young Jo at South Korea’s Honk-it University exists only as a concept car.  Fingers crossed it goes into production.  Catch a glimpse of the vehicle, called The Fiore, in the impressive 3D animation above.

Designer Rides: Chanel & James Perse

Normally luxury signifies excellent craftsmanship, superior design, and refinement. But the new luxe Segway by Chanel (above) is as out there as bottle service.   This designer ride is actually a standard Segway decked out with Chanel detailing (including a detachable Chanel purse). Eco friendly? Sure.  Overkill? Perhaps.

We have a better suggestion... looking for an eco friendly ride that is rich in style and will even help you burn a few calories?  James Perse, known for his pitch perfect tee shirts, created the pitch perfect bike, the James Perse Cruiser. Made for the beach but can also serve double duty on city streets, the single speed bike is a little clunky like the Segway, but it ranks higher in style.

Paris Fashion Week: Ines de la Fressange

Ines de la Fressange,  the former muse of Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel supermodel, resurfaced Wednesday evening to star in Jean-Paul Gaultier's latest haute couture collection inspired by calligraphy. The 51-year-old mother of two proved she could out sashay any current runway babe by winning a standing ovation from an audience that included the pouting-lipped new Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, French star Catherine Deneuve, Australian singer Kylie Minogue and The Devil Wears Prada bitch assistant Emily Blunt.
