RUSH HOUR: Betseyville Cosmetic Case

Start revving up your engines, Twitter mavens, because every Friday afternoon, you've got somewhere to be.

It's no secret that we love a good giveaway. So in the spirit of all things swag, we're switching up the game with Rush Hour, a Twitter giveaway that will have you racing to the finish for sweet finds — think statement-making dresses, swoon-worthy getaways, covetable designer accessories, and tons more! This week’s prize? A three-piece Lacey Lips cosmetic case from Betsey Johnson’s Betseyville line.

As fashionistas, we love our makeup almost as much as our shoes. But we wouldn’t dare keep it in just any old bag. Which is why we’re endlessly thankful that Betseyville creates incredibly cool makeup cases like this matching set. The large and small pouches have all the hallmarks you expect from the queen of all things girly—pink, animal print, lace—plus, it happens to be super-versatile, too. With a look this bold, you’ll never forget your lipstick again.

For a chance to win both the hat and scarf, tune in to our Twitter feed and look for the hashtag #RUSHHOUR. We'll randomly pick THREE ideeli followers to win when they tweet us the answer to the contest question.

What's the contest question, you ask? Get on Twitter and find out!

Here's a recap:
  1. Follow us @ideeli on Twitter.

  2. Tune in 9am-6pm every Friday for a surprise giveaway lasting just 1 hour.

  3. We'll announce the contest question when we announce the giveaway.

  4. Tweet your answer with the hash tag #RUSHHOUR to enter the giveaway (or if you're just excited, we won't mind)
.
  5. We'll announce winners soon after the contest ends.

Sound good? Do you feel the need for speed? See you at Rush Hour!

*Winners will be chosen at random, and must be 18 years of age and over. Item subject to final availability. Contest only open to U.S. residents. Sorry, but we cannot ship outside the U.S. One entry per person only. Winners will be announced via Twitter and will have 7 days to claim their prize. After 7 days new winners will be chosen. Winners must be followers of ideeli's Twitter account at time of drawing.

The MBFW ideeli scoop with Betsey Johnson

It’s so much fun being Betsey Johnson. Exuberant, lively, and over the top, the zany designer exudes the attitude that if you play by all the rules, you miss all the fun. When she’s not rocking the fashion world with her eccentric frocks and playful lingerie, Betsey is busy building an empire that’s earned her a place in the official Fashion Hall of Fame. After 40 years in the game (she started out at the helm of chic boutiques and launched her eponymous line in 1978) what’s next for the sassy designer? As she prepares to take Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week by storm, Betsey gave us the inside scoop on this season’s collection, her infamous back flips, and more. Check it out below!

1. What’s your earliest memory of knowing you wanted to be in fashion?
In 1964 when I was working at Mademoiselle Magazine, after winning their guest editor contest.

2. What’s been your most rewarding experience as a designer?
Seeing my designs on people

3. Season after season your designs are the funkiest by far. How do you find constant inspiration and fresh new ideas?
I still design what I personally would love to wear.

4. We can always count on your shows to have the best music. Which artists do you have in constant rotation these days?
Nicki Minaj and Adele

5. How did the tradition of the cartwheel finale at your runway shows come to be?
I threw it for fun, and it was fun, and then it became a thing!

6. Last season your show was inspired by whimsical rap artist Nicki Minaj. Is there any other celebrity you’d love to collaborate with?
My daughter, Lulu

7. We’re dying to know—what can we expect to see on the runway this season?
Androgynous Beatle girls and glamorous Valley of the Dolls girls

8. You’ve been at the forefront of fashion for over 45 years, where do you see the Betsey Johnson empire going next?

To heaven and back!

The ideeli Scoop on MBFW

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in full swing, and as official sponsors, we’re stationed in the style trenches all week long. From our virtual headquarters in Lincoln Center, we’re dishing up-to-the-minute twitter exclusives about the new collections. And when we’re not taking in the MBFW shows or trend spotting, we’re capturing photos of our favorite celebs in the front row! Here now is a midweek recap of the scene so far:

Pink Tartan
Pink Tartan—the Canadian womenswear line known for modern classics with precision cuts—presented an intimate runway experience. The models sported mod hair, dark frames, and pranced around the square-shaped catwalk with CIA-like intensity. The sophisticated A-line shifts, sleek trenches, and sequined pencil skirts will surely ramp up office style in spring 2012.

Jill Stuart
Jill Stuart showed an ultra-feminine collection of pretty frocks. Corals paired with nude and blush lets us know that colorblocking will still be on-trend next spring. Ladies who lunch, take note!

Christian Siriano
Christian Siriano’s show was an ethereal experience involving three main factors: breathtaking gowns, saturated hues, and dream-like fabrics. The audience sat in awestruck wonder as the collection was unveiled. Without a doubt, we know we’ll see Siriano’s creations on the red carpet next awards season.

Betsey Johnson
With hip-hop blasting from the speakers and the crowd laced with stars (including Betsey’s new obsession, rapper Nicki Minaj), the Betsey Johnson stage was more of a party than a show. The models came stomping out in burlesque-inspired pieces in animal and floral prints, and Betsey ended the show with her signature cartwheel and split.

Perry Ellis
It was hard to pull ourselves away from the Betsey Johnson party, but we’re so glad we did because the Perry Ellis show had its own surprises in store. After watching a parade of tailored suiting and linen safari jackets march down the runway, we were totally taken aback by the surprise ending: a procession of shirtless models baring impeccable six-pack abs!

The front row surprises are all a part of MBFW fun—like the moment actress Jamie King got assigned a seat next to a tall blonde in the same Jill Stuart dress! Songbird Corinne Bailey Rae and actor Joe Manganiello are two more of the notable names we spotted in the front row crowd.

We’re off to take in the final shows this Wednesday and Thursday. Remember to follow our runway updates on Twitter (@ideeli) and to check out our Featured Fashion Week Designer sales here. Then stay tuned for more inside scoop straight from the MBFW scene!

Flash Friday: Betsey Johnson

Here at ideeli, we live by the mantra “surprise and delight”—especially when it comes to our members. We also, as our Mavens know, love giveaways. So it's in that spontaneous, swag-loving spirit, that we created our Flash Friday giveaways on Twitter. Each Friday we surprise our Twitter followers with a Flash Friday giveaway at any given time between 9am and 6pm ET. The giveaway lasts for a period of only 1-2 hours—hence the term “flash”—so it's important that you follow our feed (@ideeli) closely to get the start notice. We'll tweet out an announcement when the giveaway begins, along with the contest question. And then...we're off! We could ask you to re-tweet (RT) a phrase, do a scavenger hunt on our site, or answer a trivia question—anything goes. To enter the giveaway, followers will tweet us their entries with the hash tag #flashfriday, and we'll announce the winner soon after the contest ends.*

In keeping with the surprise element of Flash Fridays, prizes could be any of the many ideeli finds you know and love: statement necklaces, luxe handbags, cool beach getaways, cutting-edge artwork.

The cartwheels, the irrepressible prints, the classic downtown-chic: We can go on and on counting the ways we adore Betsey Johnson. And, once we got a peek at her Impress II satin sandal (which is also available in tomorrow's Betsey Johnson sale on our site)...well, there was really just no way we could keep it from featuring it in our very first Flash Friday shoe giveaway.

Need we say more? (Actually we should: these babies are only available in sizes 5 1/2 - 10, so please enter only if your shoe size falls into that range.)

We'll randomly pick two ideeli followers to win one pair of Betsey Johnson Impress II sandals each when they tweet us the answer to the contest question. So, what's the contest question? Well, you'll need to check our Twitter feed tomorrow for when we tweet it out!

So, here's a recap:
1. Follow us on Twitter @ideeli
2. Tune in 9am - 6pm every Friday for a surprise giveaway lasting 1-2 hours.
3. We'll announce the contest question when we announce the giveaway.
4. Tweet your answer with the hash tag #flashfriday to enter the giveaway (or if you're just excited, we won't mind...)
5. We'll announce winners soon after the contest ends.

Sound good? Who's ready for tomorrow's Flash Friday?!
