Sneak Peek, Barneys New York Windows

Barneys has a way of making New Yorkers feel warm and gooey inside during the holidays and this year is no different. The iconic retailer is wishing us "a witty holiday" for 2009 and Simon Doonan, Barney's awesomely wacky creative director,  drives home the point by celebrating 35 years of 'Saturday Night Live' in the flagship store's windows. The yule-tide windows will be officially unveiled on Monday, November 16th and includes figures of Saturday Night Live as Sarah Palin, Steve Martin as King Tut, Chris Kattan as "Mango", Amy Poehler's "Weekend Update," and lots more. Now if I could only find a Cone Head Christmas tree...

Alexander McQueen, The Scarf

A friend of mine told me recently that skulls are "so over".  I beg to differ.  If Barneys and Alexander McQueen claim that the iconic image is here to stay, I will side with the fashion experts. The Shopping List: Valentine's Day Gifts

Valentines, like New Year's Eve has built in expectations. New Year's you should have the time of your life and Valentines you need to come up with an appropriate gift (or in my case a date). If you have someone to buy for keep in mind the gift should never be as grand as a birthday present, unless you plan to be engaged on that day.  It also does not matter if you spend $10 or $500, you just need to put a little thought behind the present. Drugstore chocolate is considered CHEATING along with randomly grabbing some piece of expensive yet tarty linger-ray.   Below are  gifts we would love to get or to give on Valentine's Day.  Sigh...maybe next year...
