The September Issue Premiere

Just like the Valentino documentary the "Last Emperor",  "The September Issue"  had its NYC premiere at the MoMA Museum. Sienna Miller who was wearing an ill fitting dress (why Sienna, why?) arrived with Anna Wintour. Renee Zellweger continues to dazzle us this week by looking very leggy in a spicy orange number. The flick, which is about Anna Wintour and the making of the largest issue to date of Vogue Magazine officially opens August 28th in NYC and everywhere else on September 11th. 

André Leon Takes On Miss Universe

Hell has frozen over and we are actually enjoying it - in a good way! First we discovered this week that Anna Wintour will be going to Macy's...in Queens.... (gasp!)... to sign t-shirts for Fashion’s Night Out. Now we find out there is more to watch than just Mad Men this Sunday night.  Andre Leon will also hit our flat screens as a judge for the Miss Universe pageant  at 9 PM. Both instances would have been unbelievable a year ago. It is almost like the Queen of England has decided to take us all to McDonald's for lunch - it is shocking, but also a real treat.  I do not plan on missing either event.

Anna Wintour.... Again

Ms. Wintour was spotted last night at The American Ballet Theatre's 69th Annual Spring Gala at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. If you missed Anna on 60 Minutes this past Sunday, you can catch bits and pieces here.  We discovered that she has a charming sense of humor and we loved how Anna defended her "bitchiness." It's not easy running an empire and she does it so well. 

Will The Real Anna Wintour Stand Up

Hmmmmm.....Questions:

1. When you're running around as fake-Anna-Wintour in Paris, flipping off the press, and beating someone with a baguette...What are the chances that you'll run into Marc...Alber...Hamish...

2. If you toss on a wig and a gray chinchilla AND you show up at a Paris show (I think it's Lanvin) without an invite..What happens? Before you watch the 60 Minutes special on Anna with Morley Safer (5/17/2009--that's Sunday folks!), you have got to see part II of Signé Anna Wintour by the Agnès Boulard and Loïc Prigent.

Vogue: "The September Issue"

Move over "Grey Gardens” and "Unzipped", "The September Issue" is destined to be THE fashion cult documentary of all time. The flick gives us a fly-on-the-wall view on the making of Vogue Magazine's largest issue to date, September 2007. Director RJ Cutler (The War Room) was given an all access pass into the world of Vogue Magazine. We look forward to a movie filled with chilling zingers tossed from Anna Wintour's lips,  comic relief from Editor At Large Andre Leon Talley, and an opportunity to see the best stylist working today and Vogue's second in charge Grace Coddington in action.

"The September Issue" previewed 1/18/09 at The Sundance Festival Details. Scheduled to air on A&E sometime 2009.
