MBFW Editor's Pick: Leopard Print

The fashion elite seemed to go wild for leopard print during this season’s MBFW, and we spotted quite a few industry notables sporting this eye-catching trend at the shows. Never ones to resist the allure of an animal-patterned frock, we simply had to highlight this look in today’s Editor’s Pick. Vogue’s celebrated editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, stepped out in a sophisticated sheath that hints at quiet rebellion. Paired with tall black boots and a camel wool coat, her look showcases a subtle option for unleashing your inner animal while maintaining a classic feel.

Robert Verdi and June Ambrose, both noted celebrity stylists, both sat front row at Pamella Roland's show with their bold splashes of leopard. Verdi, in fact, wore a pair of loafers fresh off of Christian Louboutin’s new line of men’s footwear. For the stylish guy in search of a pop of color to infuse into an otherwise tame outfit, these audacious studded numbers will do just the trick.

Ambrose took it a step further with an eye-catching statement jacket that features red leopard sleeves and trim. For the truly brave soul with a flair for adventure, this wild look is a guide for how to do over-the-top in style.

With all of these spotted lovelies on the scene, we're inspired to add a touch of leopard to our own wardrobes—be it something small like a clutch, or to take a new spin on a wardrobe staple, like a trench coat. Have any leopard in your closet? Tell us what in the comments!

ideeli at MBFW: Day 6

We got a major shot of fashion fabulousness on Day 6 with the double whammy of Badgley Mischka (shop today's sale!) and Vera Wang showing polar opposite moods, one light, airy and glittering, the other dark, architectural and brooding.

The front row celebs at Badgley Mischka—Gabrielle Union, Kristin Cavallari, and Denise Richards–were seated next to each other and coiffed to the hilt. The society ladies in the audience weren’t holding back either, some wearing full-on sparkle, and it was just 10 a.m. Badgley Mischka showed a mix of their couture and contemporary line Mark + James and the result was a playful-luxe vibe. A crystal tulle top with denim jeans was a standout look for us, and of course the evening wear, in shades of petal, rose, smoke and white, was tops.

In between shows we spotted Anna Wintour and Linda Fargo of Bergdorf Goodman chilling in the outdoor lounge. It was a gorge day so we took a break out there as well, although we kept our distance from Anna (there’s a palpable force field around her!).

At Vera, the show surprised with its dark colors–black, eggplant, forest green— and forceful attitude (see above). We loved all the sculptural pleats and draping, which looked akin to urban armor. Evan Lysacek and Serena Williams (sandwiched by André Leon Talley and La Wintour) were front and center—so fitting, especially for this collection, which had a toughness we imagine elite athletes can relate to.

Tune in tomorrow for more from fashion week as we head into the home stretch!

Pick of the Day, Prabal Gurung

When you've been given the approval of Queen Anna (Wintour) herself, nominated for the coveted CFDA Swarovski Womenswear Award, and worn by trendsetters such as Michelle Obama and Demi Moore...is there anywhere to go but up? We think so, thus today's exclusive Prabal Gurung sale on ideeli, which features curated styles from the up-and-coming runway darling. We've taken to this stunning piece, in particular, for its verve and avant-garde sophistication. Gurung, who's lead a far-flung life—from Singapore to Delhi to New York City—infuses a worldly aesthetic into his designs that's both cosmopolitan and exotic. His use of color and construction, particularly, is part of what sets him apart—and what we love about this scarlet cocktail number. The vivid scarlet contrasted with the slashes of black lend this frock an edgy yet sexy feel, while expert draping and pleating give it a fashion-forward sensibility, and keep it from being just any other one-shoulder dress. This is one for those über-chic affairs where you want to be sure all eyes point your way when you enter the room! Get it here!

Tim Burton Tribute, Mary-Kate & Anna

As we mentioned the other day, last night was the Museum Of Modern Art Film Benefit: A Tribute To Tim Burton. The Olsen dames and Anna Wintour were present. We are in LOVE with Mary-Kate's shoes, just wished she would stop hiding under large handbags and yards of fabric. Ms. Wintour, well, she always looks spectacular.

The Mayor, Anna, & "Fashion's Night Out"

Some might be afraid of Anna Wintour, but we think she is adorable. The mayor, Anna, and fashion industry luminaries including Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera gathered at City Hall yesterday to announce that "Fashion's Night Out" will be held on September 10th in NYC.  The list of designers and retailers participating in this event is HUGE. You don't need tickets or invitations to join in the festivities, just maybe your wallet if you plan to shop. Click here to find an assortment of special shopping incentives at participating stores. Confused? We suggest joining FNO's Twitter page so you can stay on top of incoming news alerts and perks. Don't forget, Anna will be in Queens on the 10th to sign tee shirts to celebrate the event at Macy's in Elmhurst. How adorable is that? We can't wait.
