Pod Purses

The above is not an artichoke. It's a handbag.

A bold new collection of purses - disguised to look like real flowers, stones, and even a cactus - is set to take the fashion scene by storm. Designed by Kathleen Dustin, the nature inspired accessories, which sell for as much as $2,000, look like the real thing. Made from clay, the exotic looking flowers and grasses, stones, and seed pods all cleverly open to reveal enough space for the essentials.  An accessory that doubles as a conversation starter? Genius.

Karl Lagerfeld, Quote Of The Day

Here is today's quote of the day hot off Twitter.

"I think I'm going to have a dinner party where no one speaks. I'll give all my guests pens and pads instead of the usual dinner conversation" Karl Lagerfeld.

Freaking awesome, Karl.. invite me!  To join Karl's world, click here.

Please note we can not confirm if this is really his page..

The Ultimate Jewelry Sample Sale

More and more designers are staging pop up stores and sample sale events because of the economic crisis. This is a win win for the brands and the consumer.  The designer has the opportunity to move inventory the retailers are not snapping up and the customer avoids paying full retail. Sounds like a slice of shopping heaven.

That is why I am truly excited about The Ultimate Jewelry Sample Sale event taking place today and tomorrow in NYC.  Expect to find items by Yumi Chen, Lauren Wolf (love), and FGI winner Massive Silver (double love!).   Expect to save a whopping 50%!

The Ultimate Shopping Event. April 24: Noon - 7:00pm, April 25: 10:00am - 7:00pm, 211 West 28th Street, 6th floor

Nice Nails, Screaming Neon

Our resident nail expert, Kelly Keeton is back with the latest nail trends.

1980's neon is back and better than ever this spring and summer. Many brands are coming out with their own version of neon polish, but I think the best example of an entire collection is Color Club’s Electro Candy, which is made up of six colors. What makes these neon’s different from ones you may have seen in the past is that not only are they bright, they have shimmer as well. These are not for the faint hearted so grab your sunglasses and get ready to electrify.

Electro Candy (at top of post) is a super bright neon pink with pretty shimmer throughout. The pink is a medium almost flamingo pink that would suit either fair or darker skin tones. I give this 4 bottles.

Tangerine Scream is UBER bright! The polish is a tangerine orange with silvery shimmer. This one too could work well on both light and dark skin. This rates 5 bottles.

Ultra Violet is a very bright light grape purple color with a blue shimmery cast to it. It’s not necessarily ”neon” but it’s extremely eye catching anyway! Because of the cool tone in this color, it suits fair skin tones best. I give this 3 bottles.

What A Shock! is a “hold onto your seats Ladies & Gentlemen” green neon that nearly burns the retinas! The green is a lime color and it has silver shimmer throughout. This could work on fair and dark skin tones. I give this 5 bottles.
