With her with her always-chic looks, we knew she'd be the person to get us in the perfect state of mind for fashion's big week. That's why we asked her to share the inspiration behind her stunning fashion week style as she goes from show to show in the Big Apple. (Hint: It's all about color—she is from Miami after all.)
Read on below for our exclusive Q&A with the seasoned fashionista, to find out all about her... and her coveted Fashion Week street style:
- How did SydneStyle.com come about?
I started my blog years ago as a side project while I was a fashion editor at the Style Network. Since I dressed up for work everyday already, I would photograph my outfits in the morning before I left for the office and upload them at night—and it just snowballed from there!
What is your goal as the blogger behind SydneStyle.com?
To help women feel confident through fashion, and show them you don't have to spend a fortune to look chic. It’s all about finding what trends work for you and how to style those pieces in completely innovative ways.
What did you choose as your style "theme" for this season's Fashion Week shows?
Fashion week is a time for you to really express your personality through your clothing—and there's no better way to do that (especially in the cold winter months) than with a pop-of-color. It allows you to make a bold statement even in the most classic silhouettes. Plus, bold hues can help brighten a gray winter day instantly!
What's your favorite way to wear pops-of-color?
Accessories are the easiest way to add a pop-of-color, whether it’s a fun handbag or a statement necklace. But this Fashion Week, my favorite way I’m adding a pop is with a fuchsia coat!
- Are there any color-do's or color-dont's?
Do experiment with different colors and don’t be afraid to go bold. If you're nervous about incorporating color into your wardrobe, start small with accessories and work your way up to a brighter dress or blazer. Once you start getting compliments on your colorful wardrobe, you won’t be able to stop.
What style advice can you leave our members with on incorporating pops-of-color into their wardrobe?
Always balance out color with neutrals. You definitely can mix up to three colors at a time, but then make sure to tone it down with black, gray, nude or even metallics.
Lastly, we have to ask: Which designer are you looking forward to seeing the most this week?
Jenny Packham for feminine glamour and BCBGMAXAZRIA for what I’ll be wearing next season!
