Michael Stars

Finding the perfect t-shirt is the fashion equivalent of finding the elusive Prince Charming. There are lots of frogs before you find the answer right in front of you. Sure, we've played the proverbial field--trying everything from men's undershirts to high-brow silk varieties, and everything in between--but in the end, there's only one for us: Michael Stars. The South African native and his wife, Suzanne, came on the scene in 2001 with a line of super-soft tees that fit so perfectly, our first question was "Where have you been all my life?!" But the husband and wife duo didn't stop there. Inspired by the So-Cal lifestyle they know so well (their first store was in Manhattan Beach, California), they created a whole crew of linen pants, breezy tanks, and wear-anywhere dresses so essential, we fell in love at first sight.

Michael shared his spring picks with us--and our trusty editors couldn't wait to turn them into warm weather-ready looks. Here are the must-wear results. Michael says: "Sexy chic- this dress is the perfect spin on the classic mini!"
We say: Dress up your sand-to-cocktails look with an embellished flip flop and a (super) wide-brimmed hat. Beach bum no longer! Michael says: "So cute and comfy, this Henley romper is a wardrobe essential!"
We say: Get us some brightly colored, low-top Converse kicks, a bandanna knotted like a headband, and a bicycle, and we're in summertime business. Michael says: "So easy and fun, this is the perfect summer dress."
We say: Color us nautical With a neutral wedge, gold hoops, and a sheer red shawl to drape over it all on those breezy nights. Michael says: "Stay comfy and chic in this V-neck kimono dress."
We say: When we see a blank canvas like this, we cannot wait to accessorize. With a statement-making necklace (maybe in turquoise for a Southwestern vibe!) or armfuls of bangles, this subtly sexy dress lets you do the talking.
