Meghan Donovan, Wit & Whimsy

Meet Meghan Donovan,  a woman who strives to bring stunningly fabulous standards of living to all ladies through her blog Wit & Whimsy.

First off Wit And Whimsy is an awesome name. When did you launch your site and why? I launched WIT & Whimsy back in December 2006 and it was actually because my brother told me I may as well start putting all of my talking into a blog and make more of an impact.  But the reason I’ve maintained W & W is because I wanted to share my passion for all things in life that make it fun and exciting as a female. I’ve long been in love with fashion and a total product junkie practically my whole life so I wanted to bring to other women all that I found that can help them live life to the fullest. The site has really taken off this year and I could not be happier! WIT & Whimsy was named Marie Claire's 'Blog Crush' this week and we're also working as Glamour's 'Glambassador' for San Francsico!

Meghan, that is FANTASTIC! Since you have a knack for exciting others, which designer excites you? I adore Zac Posen. I think he has this amazing balance between edgy and fashion-forward and sophistication and glamorous. His silhouettes are so flattering and I think he embraces what fashion is all about: having fun and feeling good about yourself! I’ll know I’ve made it when one day I can buy one of his fabulous frocks!

I hear you! Okay, Which major chain store is your favorite and why? Bloomingdale’s for sure. You can’t beat their sales and the coupons & event invites you get as a result of being an Insider cardholder are more than worth it.

What is your best recessionistah fashion tip? Loehmann’s! They have totally stepped up their game recently and they are offering amazing designers now. I’ve gotten such great deals there on Cynthia Steffe, Theory, Diane Von Furstenberg, C&C Californa, Juicy Couture, and Tory Burch! It can be totally hit or miss, but when you get there at the right time it can be as though you struck gold!

What are your top ten tunes on your play list? Oh goodness- they probably change every week! But for now, we’ll go for what we’re feeling this summer:

What is the most treasured item in your closet? Would definitely have to be my grandmother’s black satin clutch. She used it when she was my age and it is still as classic and elegant as ever. It’s an item I’ll have forever as an heirloom.

Who is your fashion hero? Kate Winslet. She always looks absolutely stunning and she is just so classy- that’s what I love about her. Her style and look is absolutely timeless.

I total agree. What is the must have item for Fall 2009 in your opinion? A neutral colored handbag. Neutrals are really in right now and a bag in a neutral will carry you through each of the seasons seamlessly, making it a great investment. Laura Merkin, Marc Jacobs, and Rebecca Minkoff all have fabulous ones right now.

Famous last words..."A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous" – Coco Chanel

That is officially my new favorite quote, thanks Meghan!

Agree with the Loehman's tip! You have to have your digging gear on, but it IS getting better and better. Thanks for the insights Meghan!

I'm a big fan of W&W. Loved the post, and I completely agree with Meghan's fall fashion tip. Nude is a classic color for a purse, shoes, etc.

Meghan-You rock! I know San Francisco has its appeal but shouldn't you be in NYC where so much of the style is created? For starters-they also have a larger Bloomingdale's. More sales, more coupons...
Love you,
Aunt Kathie
