Cruel Couture, Woman Kills Puppy

CategoryShop & Tell

This is incredibly shocking and sad.

A young woman is accused of having her puppy shot dead - so she could make a belt. Krystal Lynn Lewis, 23,is alleged to have persuaded friend Austin Michael Mullins, 26, to empty a round of bullets into her 6-week-old Jack Russell named, Joplin. Afterwards, she allegedly skinned the animal and started tanning its hide - but was caught before she could complete her cruel couture and turn it into a belt. Authorities in Muskogee, Oklahoma allegedly found the dog's white and black hide pinned to a board and left to dry inside Lewis' apartment. "We're talking about a 6- or 7-week-old defenseless puppy," said sheriff's deputy George Roberson. "That's pretty heinous and sadistic." Lewis and Mullins have both been charged with felony animal-cruelty charges and held on $25,000 bail. A judge ordered a mental competency hearing for both of them. The pair face up to five years in jail and a $500 fine. I believe we should skin them both, ALIVE.

thats AWFUL, these people are sick! any punishment they get wont be harsh enough for what they did to the poor animal.

This is absolutely horrible and they should be locked up - what kind of person skins a puppy to make a belt?! Someone who is mentally unstable!

When you think about it- how is this any different than what happens on the regular in the fashion industry? I think this tugs at the hearts more because it was a domesticated puppy and because these morons/sadists did it in their own home.

I'm no PETA advocate or anything and definitely no vegetarian, but think of what they do to get the minks, fox, and gorilla fur coats people love so much.

Holy God---it's not like she couldn't go to Walmart and buy a fake skin belt. What a couple hillbillies. Shame, shame, shame on them both. You gotta wonder how proud their parents must be of them..................they both need some serious psychological help.

Totally agree with J Michele here! I can't believe Ideeli would even post this story because the hypocrisy is just so obvious. I'm not a PETA dedicate either, but I'm also not going to judge someone who wants to wear dog while I'm slipping on my favorite eel heels, cashmere sweater, or calf-skin purse.

A real-life Cruella Deville...who'd have thought it would come to this. Who the hell looks at their puppy and thinks, "Hmm I'd rather be wearing that!" They are sick in the head and need mental help!!

I just don't think puppy fur goes with her color. She's more of an autumn.

Morons. I'm an animal lover, I still love fur, but I can't reconcile the cruelty. So I don't wear it. They must've missed the memo on humanity behaving better than this, at least in the US. (Not all countries view animals as we do.)

BTW, "hillbillies" wouldn't waste a perfectly good dog on something so stupid. We'd teach it to hunt rabbits.
