Obama's Rubbish Chandelier

CategoryShop & Tell

This chandelier proves that one man's trash, is another man's, or in this case, President Obama's treasure. The above light fixture which proudly hangs in the Barack Obama Whitehouse was made by a group of African artists using discarded plastic and metal. This unique hanging ornament was selected by the president's personal interior designer Michael Smith from the One of a Kind Anthropologie Gallery at New York's Rockefeller Centre. The chandelier which is a part of a pair, cost $8,800 and we think it is spot on beautiful.

It's colorful, that's for sure. What I want to know is, did WE the taxpayers, shell out the $8,800 for them, or did the Obamas pay for it out of their own pockets? The latter, I hope.
